I have been working hard to help the Republican Party, and to help get us back to our "Ronald Reagan Conservative" roots.

Eric M. Weaver, Sr. and Senator Elizabeth Dole

Eric with Senator Elizabeth Dole

We met with Senator Elizabeth Dole at her office in Washington, DC. Along with other concerned North Carolinians, we helped take the message of "lower taxes" and "less spending" to the U.S. Senate. Senator Dole listened to our message. Unfortunately, many of her colleagues in Washington will not!

Working at the Fair

My family and I worked the NC GOP booth at the 2007 North Carolina State Fair. We met so many nice people there, and the fairgrounds are right in the middle of District 35!

Christian. Businessman. Family Man.

I was born in Youngstown, Ohio. My father, Joel Weaver, worked for General Electric, and our family moved to different parts of the country. In 1983, General Electric bought American Mortgage Insurance in Raleigh. Along with my father, my mother Carolyn, and my brother Carl, we moved to Raleigh, and settled into the Valley Estates subdivision off of Lynn Road. (And this is back when Creedmoor and Lynn Roads were two lanes!) I attended to Sanderson High School in Raleigh, graduating in 1987. After a brief sojourn in Computer Engineering at NC State, I left school to get full-time into the computer business. In 1989, after working for another firm, a partner and I started our own shop - NSTS in Durham. In 1992, I bought out my partner. In 1994, I attended a part-time Basic Law Enforcement Training class at Wake Tech. In 1995, I was first sworn in as a part-time policeman.

In 1997, I decided that it was more important to work for my community than to work on computers. I left the computer business to work full-time in law enforcement. In 1997, I also was indeed fortunate to wed the love of my life, Michelle Boryk Oppegaard of Topsail Beach. She has been a true blessing in my life, and has provided me with Eric Jr, now 6, and Anna Amelia, now 4. After working for a few smaller law enforcement agencies, I joined the Durham Police Department in 2000. At DPD I worked at various assignments, including patrol, policy writing, and supervision (as a Corporal.) In 2005, I was involved in an on-duty shooting, which was covered in the local media.

In 2006, I decided to concentrate on my family's well being, and left full-time law enforcement. (I am still a part-time policeman at a local agency.) I went to work with in Cary, as a residential REALTOR®. Working with my wife, we have been successful, winning the RE/MAX International Executive Club award in our first year. I now work with Coldwell Banker Advantage in Cary, on High House Road. My wife, Michelle, formerly a youth minister, now works with me in our business, so she can also be home to take care of our children. Eric Jr. attends Wake County Schools at Reedy Creek Elementary School in Cary, and Anna attends preschool at the Methodist Children's Center in Cary. We are members of Saint George's Anglican Church in Raleigh, where I serve as Junior Warden.
